We’ve all set our playlists to repeat and belted out these songs throughout the year. We’ve waited in anticipation for them to release their new albums and raved when they were just as good as we predicted that they were going to be. But now its time for them to get the recognition they so rightly deserve. It’s Grammy’s Weekend. Who will scoop the awards this Sunday?

Adele – Easy on Me

After five years of a music hiatus Adelle released her first solo track “Easy On Me” which is a piano-led ballad following her split from ex-husband Simon Konecki. The song is a plea for her son Angelo to understand why she chose to break up their family and for Simon to know that she tried her most to make the marriage work but ultimately couldn’t. Explaining the title phrase, Adele told Vogue: “It’s not like anyone’s having a go at me, but it’s like, I left the marriage. Be kind to me as well.”

Beyoncé – Break My Soul

“Break My Soul” was released on June 20, 2022 as the lead single from the album Renaissance which is Beyonce’s first solo album since 2016’s Lemonade. “With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible.”. We cannot wait to see if Queen Bey walks home with the Grammy this weekend.

Harry Styles – As It Was

We love all things 80s and Harry Styles’ As It Was is exactly that. A song of today with classic retro influences. Harry has always paid tribute to songwriters from decades passed through his music, and that influence is clear in this hit track. The song’s sad lyrics play over upbeat synth beats and melodies that sound as if they came straight from an ‘80s pop tune.

Lizzo – About Damn Time

This track too the internet by storm. There wasn’t a day that passed without you seeing everyone on social media dancing along to this catchy tune. Not to mention Lizzo herself showing exactly how it’s done.

“I think life had thrown some major traumas and hard experiences at us, especially globally these last few years,” she told Julia the host of Audacy’s Check-In series. “And I wanted to write a song that allowed us to take a moment and celebrate our survival, and celebrate how far we’ve come. And I think ‘About Damn Time’ does just that – it does it for me honey.”
