Motorists will be offered the chance to challenge, and reduce traffic fines, during a traffic fine roadshow later this week.
The City of Cape Town’s Traffic Service, in collaboration with Legal Services and other departments, will host the traffic fine roadshow between Wednesday, 30 November and Friday, 2 December 2022.
Members of the public will have access to a one-stop shop to resolve outstanding fines and/or summonses or warrants, including:
- All fine-related enquiries for vehicles registered in their name
- Applying for a reduction on traffic fines issued within the City of Cape Town’s municipal boundaries
- Paying outstanding fines
- Enquiring about warrants and/or summons issued in their name and finalising these
- Removing administration marks against their name on the Natis system
- Renewing vehicle licenses
Individuals can also send someone on their behalf, provided that the representative is able to produce their own Identity Document, a copy of the ID of the person who sent them, as well as an affidavit giving them permission to act on the other person’s behalf.
This is the first traffic fine roadshow since 2019, and the City says previous events have shown that this is an incredibly popular initiative.
The City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, says it’s an opportunity to wipe the slate clean, and he’s encouraged members of the public to make use of this opportunity to resolve their fines.
Not only does it bring peace of mind to motorists, particularly when they are confronted by a roadblock, but it also eases the pressure on our Traffic Service and municipal courts, who can focus on the scofflaws who refuse to take accountability for their transgressions.
The roadshow will start at 08:30 daily, between 30 November and 2 December until 14:00 and the location is the 2nd Floor, Podium Block, Civic Centre in the Cape Town CBD.
Members of the public are urged to arrive early to avoid disappointment!
