Ramaphosa was due to address the Worker’s Day rally in the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng, North West, on Sunday, but efforts failed to get striking workers from Sibanye Stillwater’s gold operations to calm down and he left the stadium, in a police vehicle. The striking workers are unhappy with Cosatu, the ANC, and the government’s response to their plight, as they have been striking for months.
