Ramaphosa says the declaration on 15 March 2020 had empowered the government to take measures that prevented many people from becoming severely ill and it saved countless lives.
Meanwhile, several ‘transitional’ measures will remain in place for 30 days, to allow for the finalization of regulations in terms of the Health Act. At the same time, people will still have to wear masks indoors.
