President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that masks are no longer mandatory outdoors, but still indoors, including in malls and on taxis.
The limit on gatherings has been eased, both indoor and outdoor venues can now fill up to 50% of its capacity, with no upper limit, but with the entrance criteria of either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test (not older than 72 hours). This means large sporting events and concerts can now resume.
Where neither is available, the previous limits to gatherings will apply (1000 indoors, 2000 outdoors). Up to 200 people may now attend a funeral.
Travelers entering SA must provide either proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test.
The National State of Disaster will be lifted after the public comment period on the new Health Regulations closes. The comment period is open until 16 April.
