The Green Connection welcomes halting of seismic surveys along West Coast

Environmental advocacy group, The Green Connection has welcomed the news that the seismic surveys, along the West Coast, have temporarily been halted.

The Australian-owned, Searcher Geodata, started the 2D and 3D seismic surveys on 24 January already.

The Western Cape High Court on Monday ordered the suspension of the surveys pending a court hearing on 7 March.

Strategic Lead at the Green Connection, Liziwe McDaid.

McDaid says the required processes, like conducting Environmental Impact Studies, have not been done before the company was awarded its operating licenses.
