Backlog of driving licenses, which expire by 31 March 2022 & has yet to be renewed, currently stands at 2.1-million

The Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula says the backlog of driving licenses that expire by 31 March 2022 and still need to be renewed currently stands at 2.1-million.

Mbalula says it would take up to six months to eliminate this nationwide backlog.

He says 1.5-million licences could not be renewed due to the covid-19 lockdowns.

Mbalula today again reiterated that the 31 March deadline, applies only to licences that expired between 26 March 2020 and 31 August 2021.
