The National Prosecuting Authority has established a dedicated task force to review all cases covered in the state capture report.

NPA spokesperson Mthunzi Mhaga says the task team in conjunction with the Hawks was established in response to the commission’s report. The two law enforcement agencies will also rope in the assistance of several departments including the National Treasury. Acting Chief Justice Raymond Zondo earlier this year, handed over the first of three reports to President Cyril Ramaphosa, about four years since the commission was established.
Meanwhile, the NPA has also revealed that following the handover, its Investigating Directorate got to work immediately and is currently probing several matters highlighted in the document. The NPA has previously been criticised for its failure to respond adequately to state capture allegations.
