US to lift travel ban on SA this week

President Joe Biden has formally announced he will lift a ban on travel from South Africa and other countries in the region, imposed due to fear of the Omicron Covid-19 variant.

Biden said in a proclamation the travel restrictions are no longer necessary to protect public health. The decision takes effect at just after midnight on Friday, Washington time.
