WATCH: Municipal elections explained in three minutes

There are more candidates standing for election in Western Cape Wards in the upcoming poll than in the 2016 Local Government Elections.

The Independent Electoral Commission has confirmed that 12 400 candidates will contest the Local Government Elections on 1 November in the province.

Amongst the candidates are 904 individuals under the age of 30. There are 844 seats across 30 Municipalities in the Western Cape.
