Matric exams are set to start a few days earlier this year, as final examinations were supposed to start on the 1st of November, but with citizens heading to the polls on that day, this would have lead to a clash, in the exam timetable.

The Department of Basic Education has released a circular, stating that exams will start on the 27th of October, with papers to be written for English, business studies and non-official languages.
