The Western Cape Department of Health says more than 90% of Covid-19 patients, currently admitted to the province’s hospitals, are unvaccinated.

Research by the UCT Health Sciences faculty shows that of the 156 patients admitted to the Groote Schuur Hospital, 153 were not vaccinated against the virus.

The Health Department’s Dr Saadiq Kariem says of the 66 patients in ICU, not one of the patients had their Covid-19 injection.
