Police have confirmed that 6 people have died in the violent pro-Jacob Zuma protests in Gauteng and KwaZulua Natal.

219 people have been arrested thus far.

Protests are also continuing on the R101 outside Pretoria, on the N2 highway in Port Elizabeth, the M2 highway in Johannesburg, and large parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

The protests erupted in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday after former President Jacob Zuma started serving 15 months in jail, for contempt of court.

Meanwhile, Zuma’s application in the Constitutional Court to have his guilty verdict revoked or reconsidered began earlier this morning.
