In the Western Cape, it’s all systems go, says Health MEC, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo.

From today the remainder of the provinces’ health care workers will be inoculated, at the same time as the elderly. Mbombo says technology is being used to direct people to the closest vaccination centre. Meanwhile, the provincial department of health has asked people over the age of 60 years, who did not receive a message to go for a vaccine jab, NOT to arrive at vaccination sites. The provincial head of health, Dr Keith Cloete says, for now, only a small group will receive an SMS, as health workers head to old age homes, to vaccinate there first.
