Disease-expert and Chairperson of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Covid-19 Vaccines, prof. Barry Schoub, says the variant is being closely monitored by the Health Department.

He says although the variant has been noted to be just as transmissible as the B.1.351-variant – first detected here in South Africa – there should be no cause for panic.
