The City of Cape Town has been declared as the official winner of two categories in the 2021 City Nature Challenge.

The Directorate of Environment says the number of Cape Town residents who participated in the challenge this year, increased to 1 315, recording more than 71-thousand observations.

The Mother City this year won first prize for making the most observations and recording the most species in this international competition.

Over 150 cities from around the world competed in the 2021-edition of the challenge.
