Health Minister Zweli Mkhize says his Department has noted a worrying increase in Covid-19 infections in several district across eight of the country’s provinces.

He says every province, except the Eastern Cape, has had at least one district of concern.

The Free State, Gauteng, Northern Cape and North West were provinces of particular concern.

Mkhize says among the districts, flagged for observation, because of a rise in infections over the past 2 weeks, are Mangaung, Fezile Dabi, Xhariep in the Free State, City of Johannesburg metro, Sedibeng, City of Tshwane and Ekurhuleni in Gauteng.

He says the Northern Cape, North West, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal also had districts of concern.
