The South African Teachers’ Union says a poll among its members has shown that teachers are concerned that the country’s current class time-table is hampering the extent to which schools can cover the necessary school-work for the year. The Union says of the nearly 800 teachers – who took part in the survey – 66% indicated that the 2020 curriculum could not be fully covered. 85% of teachers indicated that many pupils have started falling behind on their work.
