WHO: Young people should take Covid-19 more seriously

The World Health Organization has again urged people to abide by the Covid-19 health and safety regulations saying the roll-out of a Covid-vaccine in countries should not be seen as an indicator that the pandemic is over.

Director-general at the WHO, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus says he is disappointed to see that many people now blatantly ignore the regulations believing that because vaccines are being rolled-out in their countries it means that the danger has passed.

Ghebreyesus says it is especially young people who seem to be under the impression that they won’t be affected by the virus.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the country may have temporarily suspended the further rollout of the Johnson & Johnson covid-19 vaccine, but he has stressed that it’s just a precautionary measure.
