President Cyril Ramaphosa says the country’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign will pick up significant speed over the next few weeks.
Phase 1 of the campaign kicked off in the middle of February.
Ramaphosa says the vaccination of healthcare workers (under phase one) is on track, and is set to be completed in the next 3 months. To date, more than 250-thousand medical workers have received their injection.
He says millions more vaccines have already been secured for use in the country’s vaccination campaign.
Ramaphosa says Government is still in talks with other vaccine-manufacturers to secure even more doses of the vaccines.
Ramaphosa says he is confident that the country will meet its vaccination goals.
He says that Phase 2 of the campaign is set to start in May of this year.
Registration for this part of the vaccination campaign will open in April.
He says an online registration site has been launched to facilitate the vaccination programme.
He says Government will cater for those who do not have access to online-facilities.
In the middle of February, we began Phase 1 of our vaccination programme, which involves the vaccination of health workers.
This phase is on track to be completed within three months.https://t.co/BxlN1OLuzp— Cyril Ramaphosa 🇿🇦 (@CyrilRamaphosa) March 30, 2021
