The Federation of Governing Bodies for South African Schools says the Protocol of Co-operation, signed earlier this week, will ensure that all South African learners have equal access to affordable school uniforms.

The Federation co-signed the protocol with the Competition Commission and the National Association of School Governing Bodies.

Manager of Legal Services at FEDSAS, Juané van der Merwe, says the agreement is aimed at combating anti-competitive practices by school-uniform suppliers.

Van der Merwe says the talks for the Protocol commenced in 2013 already.
