The SA Federation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds, or SANCCOB, has asked Capetonians to not toss away their babies’ old socks.

SANCCOB’s France van Wyk asks people to donate these socks to the organization.

She says the socks are placed on the feet and flippers of sea-birds, to help keep the birds warm, during surgery.

Van Wyk says donations of baby and toddler socks are always needed.
