President Cyril Ramaphosa yesterday passed the Civil Union Amendment Bill into law. This now prevents marriage officers, from refusing to conduct same-sex marriages. According to the legislation, Home Affairs Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi, must ensure that there is a marriage officer available to observe a civil union at every Home Affairs office, across the country.
