Published on

There are only 40 days to go before the start of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. In the Western Cape, it’s all systems go, to make sure that all the candidates have the opportunity to succeed.

MEC David Maynier says districts have also been hard at work during the 3rd term offering after-school and weekend revision classes in key subjects. They’ve also provided exam support packs to candidates, held online tutoring sessions, hosted residential camps and motivated learners.

Matric revision support

He added, “Every matric candidate in the province has received a matric revision pack this term. The pack contains past papers and memos in high-enrolment subjects. It also includes study tips, post-matric advice, and the pass requirements for the NSC.”

According to a media statement, the details on when and how the results will be released are also enclosed in this document. Candidates and their parents will have access to the dates for re-marking and re-checking applications. If you want to find out, how to apply for the supplementary exams after you’ve received their results (to improve your marks), you won’t need to look far than your matric revision pack.

With 40 days to go, visit the ePortal

If you are looking for revision guides, Telematics videos, marking guides, and study tips, among others, head over to the department’s ePortal. This site contains nearly 9 000 matric-specific support resources that learners can access whenever they like.

The department has noted a record number of 185 000 unique users accessing the ePortal during the winter holidays! Now is the day, to access it again, for the revision period!

Psycho-social support

The department says, as it is a stressful time for matrics, social workers have been on hand during residential camps, to support learners in need. They also conduct motivational sessions with matrics.

Load shedding

MEC Maynier says they’ve put contingency measures in place to deal with loadshedding. They’ve appealed to Eskom and local government partners to prevent loadshedding so that learners can achieve their best results.
