A murder investigation is underway after a 22-year-old woman was found dead in her Fish Hoek home on Echo Road last Friday.
Friends reportedly alerted police to her absence. Officers found her body inside the residence that morning. Authorities say the scene is “consistent with a house robbery”, though the investigation is ongoing.
Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the case, stating simply that a murder docket was opened, but that no arrests had been made yet.
The Fish Hoek Community Police Forum (CPF) described the incident as a “serious house robbery” and expressed sympathy for the family, urging the community “not to post or speculate” on social media.
“The Fish Hoek CPF once again appeals to the community to refrain from speculation or sharing unverified information that could hinder the investigation or cause further distress to the victim’s family and friends,” said CPF chairperson, Andre Blom, on social media.
Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app anonymously.
Furthermore, residents are reminded to remain vigilant and take safety precautions at home. In a statement, the Fish Hoek SAPS advised locals to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately. Neighbours and security networks are encouraged to stay alert, and members of the public are asked to avoid the area unless necessary.
Fish Hoek SAPS also reiterated the CPF’s plea to the public to respect the investigation and the privacy of the victim’s family.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder, and no further details have been released yet.
