The World Health Organization says the surge in Covid-19 infections, globally, has contributed to the shortfall in supply of Covid-19 vaccine-doses to the Covax-facility.
The facility is a global alliance of governments, health organisations, and role-players in the private sector and is meant to promote the equal delivery of vaccines to all countries across the globe.
WHO Director-General, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus says there will be a short-fall of up to 190-million doses to Covax, by the end of June.
Ghebreyesus urges vaccine-manufacturers to ramp up their production to help decrease this shortfall.
"Furthermore, #COVID19 testing & vaccination has been severely impacted. This creates health risks for the world as a whole. Protection of #healthworkers & health facilities is an imperative in all circumstances"-@DrTedros https://t.co/AIps6M5i5H
