The deployment of Western Cape law-enforcement agencies have been significantly scaled up to ensure there is an immediate response, should any confirmed incidences of looting or violent protests occur here.
This, according to the provincial police commissioner, General Thembisile Patekile who says the province will respond by deploying SAPS officers, the Metro police, and members of the City’s law-enforcement agencies to quell any unrest.
General Patekile says the military will also assist while, in rural areas, law-enforcers are monitoring developments there.
