Water interruption in more than 20 Cape Town suburbs

More than 20 suburbs in Cape Town will have limited tap water from Friday morning until late afternoon on Saturday, as the City begins maintenance on its water infrastructure.

 

The City advised that there would either be low water pressure or no water at all in areas including and surrounding MilnertonPaarden Eiland, GoodwoodPinelands, and Athlone:

  • Century City,
  • Tygerhof,
  • Brooklyn,
  • Paarden Eiland,
  • Koeberg, 
  • Ysterplaat,
  • Summer Greens,
  • Milnerton,
  • Kensington, 
  • Factreton,
  • Maitland,
  • Goodwood,
  • Athlone,
  • Langa,
  • WP Showgrounds,
  • Pinelands,
  • Thornton,
  • Parow, 
  • Ruyterwacht,
  • Grand West and surrounding areas.

 

The City says it is replacing an offtake valve on a bulk water pipeline in Smart Street in Goodwood, with maintenance work scheduled between 07:00 on 31 July (Friday) to 17:00 on 1 August (Saturday).

 

Residents are urged to keep taps closed during this window.

 

“Keep taps closed while the work is underway and use water sparingly if your supply is not affected to help sustain the network,” read the City’s statement.
