The World Health Organization says 172 countries are now involved in its world-wide covid-19 vaccine initiative.

The initiative, known as the COVAX-plan, is designed to provide equal access to a vaccine, to all countries around the world.

The Director-General of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, says that more funding is however needed to make the project a success.

He says the project boasts the largest and most diverse covid-19 portfolio in the world, that will provide an affordable vaccine to all participating countries.
