Up The Creek festival draws international acts

Published on

Up The Creek – one of South Africa’s longest-running music festivals – has launched its 2025 event with early bird tickets selling out in just one hour last Friday.

Up The Creek returns 6-9 February a ‘reunion at the river’ with Phase 1 artists announced:

Australia’s Hollow Coves, and local legends Francois Van Coke, Matthew Mole, The Black Cat Bones, Droomsindroom, Albert Frost, Ben Dey, Die Piesangskille, Warongx, Murray, Lucy Kruger and The Lost Boys, Freddy L, Luukhanyo & The Hii Rollers and Unyazi.

In October last year, Up The Creek announed that local hitmaker and muso, Jeremy Loops, along with BreakOut Events founder and event-industry veteran, Damon Forbes, were proud to join the Creeker family with a part buy-in partnership for the iconic, local 2024 music festival in Swellendam, just outside Cape Town.

In 2025, Jeremy and Damon take over the reigns as full festival owners.

Both Jeremy and Damon have years of entertainment and live event experience under their belts and along with the original team, look to bring in some new waters, with an international twist and more local oomph than ever before.

Established in 1990, the music festival continues to grow from riverbank to riverbank and now returns in 2025 after a sell-out 2024 with over 2,500 attendees – the 2nd highest gathering in the festival’s history.

Next year’s festival is set to take place between 6-9 February 2025, at the much-loved, original farm on the banks of the Breede River just outside of Swellendam in the Cape.

This is the first time that the festival will see an international injection from Australia.

Oz’s Hollow Coves, a dynamic indie folk group hailing from Brisbane, blend an earthy folk sound, acoustic melodies & vocal harmonies. Quoting influences such as Angus & Julia Stone, Ben Howard, & The Paper Kites, the boys have set out to deliver their own brand of indie folk across the world.

The festival is now calling all their loyal Creekers who have made the vibe what it is today, to grab their festie-besties and join in celebrating the return of the ultimate outdoor music festival.

4 days, 4 stages, 50+ artists, you and your friends and your lilos!
