More than a week after Kirk was fatally shot at a university in Utah, tens of thousands of attendees to his five-hour memorial service in Arizona remembered him as a martyr.
Trump said he would award Kirk with a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
The memorial drew tens of thousands of supporters, including Vice President JD Vance, members of Trump’s cabinet and leading Make America Great Again figures. Speakers described the 31-year-old Turning Point USA co-founder as a man whose life and Christian values would continue to inspire the conservative movement.
“He’s bigger now than ever before. And he’s eternal,” Trump told the crowd.
Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, also delivered an emotional address on the day, receiving a standing ovation as she promised to carry forward her husband’s work.
“He left this world without regret. He did 100% of what he could every day. But I want you to know something: Charlie died with incomplete work, but not with unfinished business,” she said.
Vance framed the memorial as a call to faith and resilience.
“The evil murderer who took Charlie from us expected us to have a funeral today, and instead, my friends, we have had a revival.”
