Trash Bash Beach Cleanup

Published on

The Trash Bash Mouille Point Beach Cleanup is happening this Saturday, 1 April 2023. The Two Oceans Aquarium and the Two Oceans Aquarium Foundation are inviting all Capetonians to join them on their second Trash Bash cleanup of the year.

Trash Bash Beach Cleanup

This year we will focus on building our beach cleanup community on the doorstep of the Two Oceans Aquarium at Mouille Point beach. Help them build on the momentum of plastics collection, community building and awareness through the Trash Bash Movement.

What to look out for at the Beach Cleanup:

Look out for items, such as plastic bags, bottles, straws, sweet wrappers, and even microplastics made up of small pieces of broken hard plastic. These items all contribute to the plastic pollution of Cape Town Beaches.

More Details about the Trash Bash Beach Cleanup

  • Date: Saturday 01 April 2023
  • Time: 09h00 to 11h00

“Beach cleanups are vital as they prevent plastic and other trash from being deposited into the ocean and beyond our shores. Cleaning a beach is one of many easy and fun ways of contributing to our responsibility for ensuring a healthy natural environment while providing data for scientific studies,” said Helen Lockhart, Conservation & Sustainability Manager for the Two Oceans Aquarium.

She added, “It is also an opportunity to connect with nature.”
