Traffic fine roadshow rolls into Mitchells Plain

Published on

Cape Town motorists are being offered another opportunity to address their traffic-related affairs, as the City’s Traffic Fine Roadshow returns. Following the success of the previous event in March, the upcoming roadshow takes place in Mitchells Plain this time round. It will be running for six days.

“We continue to be blown away by the level of interest these roadshows generate, and I invite everyone with outstanding fines or warrants to make use of the opportunity,” said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith.

Motorists are encouraged to visit the Lentegeur Civic Centre on Merrydale Road from Friday, 16 May to Thursday, 22 May 2025.

The event, organised by City’s Traffic Services and Legal Services, is aimed at streamlining the often long process of resolving traffic violations.

Services available at the roadshow include payment of outstanding fines, fine-related enquiries, application for fine reductions, and the removal of administration marks on the Natis system.

“Under normal circumstances, you’d have to go to each individual magisterial district to handle multiple warrants – the roadshow removes a lot of the red tape,” said Smith.

The first day of the event will accommodate City staff, as well as members of the public with 20 or more fines.

Then, from Saturday, 17 May, the roadshow will be open to the public until 12:30.

It will continue from Monday, 19 May to Thursday, 22 May, from 08:30.

Smith noted that staff will only assist the first 350 people in the queue each day. Those who have not been assisted will receive a return ticket for priority access the next day. However, those with priority access must be at the roadshow venue by 09:30.

“I also want to invite persons on our list of Top 100 offenders to come forward. A concrete action plan to settle your debt is surely far more palatable than time behind bars.”

Those who want to use this opportunity are encouraged to get to the Lentegeur Civic Centre as early as possible.

“Attendees should expect long queues, so please be patient and ensure that you have all of the correct documentation with you, to avoid disappointment,” said Smith.
