The FIFA World Cup is mere 32 days away. While many are sharpening their skills some will have to watch from the sidelines because of injuries.

- Diogo Jota – Liverpool’s emphatic win against a rampant Manchester City came at a price for Jota as the Portuguese international was stretchered off with a ‘serious calf muscle issue’.
- N’golo Kante – Kante’s hamstring injury he picked up against Tottenham in August has flared up again, missing France’s participation at the World Cup.
- Reece James – James is out with a knee injury he picked up during a Champions League clash against AC Milan.
- Paulo Dybala –the 28-year-old haS torn his quadriceps muscle, putting him in a race to be fit for Qatar.
- Ronald Araujo – Uruguay’s defender Ronald Araújo damaged a tendon in his right thigh, during his side’s 1-0 loss to Iran in September.
- Raul Jimenez – Mexico’s Raul Jimenez has not played for club or country since August 31 following a groin injury.
- Alexander Isak – Sweden’s 23-year-old striker Alexander Isak is the latest player whose participation in Qatar has been put under doubt after aggravated a thigh problem which he picked up in September.
- Eerling Haaland – The Manchester City striker will miss the World Cup after Norway finished third in their UEFA qualifying group behind Netherlands and Turkey.
- Mo Salah – Salah missed a penalty in a playoff shootout defeat to Senegal, meaning that he won’t get the chance to shine this winter.
- Luis Diaz – The Liverpool forward will have to wait another four years after Colombia missed out on a CONMEBOL playoff place by a single point to Peru.
