Tobacco-industry role-players have called on Government to freeze proposed tax increases in tobacco products, saying the increases, announced for the 2020 Budget, will further negatively affect the industry, in the wake of the covid-19 lockdown. They say an increase in taxes, would lead to an increase in the illegal trade of cigarettes and tobacco products.
