Thousands of rock lobster and other marine species have beached on the West Coast, due to a red tide.

The red tide occurs when algae grow out of control and oxygen in the water declines. Deceased sharks, hagfish and other species have been photographed on the beaches, around Elandsbaai and Doringbaai.
