There’s a heavy police and media presence outside the Cape Town Regional Court where alleged Parliament arsonist, Zandile Christmas Mafe, is expected to apply for bail.

His bail bid, set down for last Saturday, was moved to today, following consultations. Mafe was in isolation after contracting covid-19. According to the SABC, he faces charges of housebreaking, arson, terrorism and theft. Mafe was arrested shortly after the blaze caused extensive damage to the National Assembly.
