Over the past week, at least seven schools in the area had to be decontaminated because of Covid-infections there.

WCED spokesperson, Bronagh Hammond said there were 34 active cases of learners (who tested positive for covid-19), while 36 teachers and non-teaching staff also tested positive for the virus.

This is an increase from 10 May this year, when there were 18 cases of teacher and non-teaching staff infections, and 15 learner cases.
