The Western Cape Departement of Health says it has already used more than 85% of its allocated vaccine doses

The Western Cape Departement of Health says it has, to date, already used more than 85% of its allocated vaccine doses.

The province has, since the start of phase 2 of the country’s vaccination campaign, received more than 196-thousand doses of Pfizer vaccines, with more than 167-thousand doses that have already been administered to Western Cape residents.

The Department says it initially planned to vaccinate up to 120-thousand residents per week but, due to constraints in vaccine supplies by national Government, can now only vaccinate up to 70-thousand people per week.

The province aims to distribute another 49 140 vaccines in the week of 14 to 18 June.
