According to Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis, the City Hall clock was removed in March of this year for repairs. This was also to restore its bells and chime mechanisms. He says the mechanism was manufactured by the UK clockmaker, JB Joyce & Co.. They also built Big Ben. The local timepiece was installed in City Hall in Cape Town, in 1905.
