The Smile Breakfast team chatted to Ayrton The Aquarist after his cute, quirky and cheerful penguin videos on Instagram caught the attention of the Cape Town online community.

“The Two Oceans Aquarium is obviously closed to the public but our essential staff (animal care and technical teams) are still working so that the animals get the same best care.

The videos I’ve started is Penguin Pick-me-ups after I realized how happy the vids made my friends and family I shared on social media and it’s just blown up.” he says.

“The exploring and walkabouts that you see in the videos happen despite the lockdown. So they won’t have to get used to not being able to walk around… it’s a daily thing as these birds walk through the aquarium to get to the exhibit which they swim in every day.”, Ayrton told Smile 90.4FM
