The South African economy contracted by 7-percent in 2020 – that’s according to data released by Stats SA. The fourth-quarter GDP increased by one-point 5 percent on a quarter-on-quarter basis, with growth bolstered by the easing of lockdown restrictions. Overall, economists expect growth to rebound in 2021, with support coming from the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines.
