The search is on for Cape Town’s most romantic sunsets, Valentine’s Day Edition

Published on

The search is on for Cape Town’s most romantic sunsets on Valentine’s Day today. And your help is needed, although there is no Grand Prize if you should find that perfect sunset spot.

“Love and a spectacular sunset are for everyone, no matter where you’re from or where you live,” says Briony Brookes, Head of Global Communications at Cape Town Tourism.

The search is on for Cape Town’s most romantic sunsets

Cape Town Tourism says nothing says romance like watching the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in pink, orange, and gold hues. The tourist organization is inviting couples to fall in love again today, by chasing the city’s most romantic sunsets.

Valentine’s Day: Chasing Cape Town’s Most Romantic Sunset

“Cape Town’s got more stunning viewpoints than we can count, so grab your significant other, your besties, or just your camera and pick the sunset that speaks most to you”, says Brookes.

Here are the top spots to watch the sunset on your perfect day together:

Table Mountain: A Sunset Above the World

Take the cableway up or hike to the top for a view that feels as infinite as your love. As the city lights twinkle below, share a quiet moment with your partner while the sun sets the sky ablaze.

Clifton Beaches: Golden Sands, Golden Skies

Sink your toes into the soft sand of Clifton 4th Beach and watch the sun melt into the Atlantic.

Chapman’s Peak Drive: Sunset on the Road

One of the world’s most scenic drives, Chapman’s Peak offers unbeatable viewpoints for sunset magic.

Cape Point: Where Two Oceans Meet

For an adventurous Valentine’s Day, head to Cape Point. The dramatic cliffs and panoramic ocean views make this a scene straight out of a love story.

V&A Waterfront: Sunset with a Splash of City Buzz

Combine romance with energy at the V&A Waterfront. Enjoy the golden-hour glow reflecting off the harbour while you sip on a cocktail at one of the waterfront restaurants. Bonus points for ending the night with a ride on the Cape Wheel!

Still not sure which spot will offer the most unforgettable sunset experience? Let Cape Town’s iconic yellow frames guide the way.

Brookes added, “I guarantee Cape Town has the perfect backdrop for your love story.”

Where to Find the Yellow Frames

Scattered throughout the city, these vibrant frames are perfectly positioned to give you front-row seats to some of the most breathtaking views of Table Mountain, ensuring you don’t miss a moment of Cape Town’s sunset magic.

And the best part? They’re designed for everyone! Each frame features braille plaques and QR codes that provide immersive audio descriptions.

Here’s where you’ll find them:

  1. V&A Waterfront Near Den Anker Restaurant, with stunning harbour views.
  2. Signal Hill A panoramic city and mountain view you won’t forget.
  3. Eden on the Bay, Big Bay Beach (Bloubergstrand) That classic postcard-perfect Table Mountain shot.
  4. Silo District, V&A Waterfront Right in front of the world-famous Zeitz MOCAA Museum of Contemporary Art Africa.
  5. District Six, Harrington Street A location rich in history, culture, and iconic street art.

Love, Cape Town Style

Brookes says love isn’t just about chocolates and roses. She says it’s about shared experiences, unforgettable moments, and the beauty surrounding us.

This is the message from Cape Town Tourism today:

Let Cape Town be the canvas for your love story this Valentine’s Day, painted with the colours of the most romantic sunsets.
