The number of cases of Covid-19 is rising sharply in the Western Cape, but the provincial government says a fourth wave has not yet begun.

The head of health, Dr Keith Cloete says cases have increased by 79% in the past week, with around 100 new cases per day. He says there are also early signs of an increase in hospitalizations.
Meanwhile, the Cape Town International Convention Centre is holding a ceremony to close its vaccination site today. The decommissioning ceremony is happening this morning, at the city’s Vaccination Centre of Hope.
