Could AirPods Pro 2 be more than noise cancelling

The other day I had a chat with my boys about the differences between Millennials, Gen-Z or Gen-alpha kids. The latter is what I want to highlight. This ‘Alpha’ generation includes those born from 2010. It is also the first generation to grow up in a fully digital world!

That being said, being a millennial myself, it really does sometimes get challenging dealing with my Gen-Alpha kids. They always seem to know more than me when it comes to tech.

And although I have to work twice as hard to keep up, I still keep my finger on the tech space pulse. By that I mean, I link up with the best in the biz – Theunis Janse van Rensburg of Bandwidth Blog.

Theunis came in one day saying: Ewan, I heard rumours about the new AirPods from Apple, and I think you are going to love it!. I asked him why, and he simply replied, because I know you love this stuff.

Tracking your steps with your AirPods?

Wearable tech is now the norm for most of society. Phones, watches, rings, bands you name it. There really is a lot to choose from!

For those in the health and fitness space – a broad band of people, I know – wearable tech is very common. Think a wristwatch that tracks your daily steps, heart rate and calories burned.

AirPod

This is where the new Airpods come in, they are rumoured to not only do the usual play music and make calls, but will be able to act as a fitness tracker as well!

And that’s when I said: Theunis, you got my attention!

I love my smartwatch. But it can feel uncomfortable for some physical activities, in my case, it’s during a boxing session. I would love to track the calories burnt during training, but having to wrap my hands and put a boxing glove over them is a mission. Not only that, I am afraid my watch will seize to work with the high impact on the arms.

For that reason – I am sure you can agree – having earphones that can do pretty much the same as your watch; track steps, measure heart rate, blood oxygen levels, is a big win in my eyes. However, we have heard nothing concrete as of yet, but best believe, Theunis is on stand-by should any news break around these brand-new Apple AirPods.
