The Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning department says 2 people are still missing and farmworkers had to be evacuated yesterday, as the first winter storm continued to lash the Overberg.

MEC Anton Bredell says the towns, specifically Bredasdorp, Struisbaai, Riviersonderend and the surrounding areas continue to be hardest hit by the winter storm that made landfall on Tuesday evening with many areas still flooded. Bredell’s spokesperson James Brent-Styan says there have been two fatalities in the Bonnievale area that occurred on Wednesday evening.
