THE KEY TO INDONESIA 2019 (JAWA – KALIMANTAN – BALI)

30 SEPT – DEPARTURE FROM SOUTH AFRICA TO INDONESIA

 

1 OCT – ARRIVAL – JAKARTA

Welcome to Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia.

 

2 OCT –JAKARTA CITY TOUR (B, L, D)

Today you will explore Jakarta as a cosmopolitan city yet full of history and traditional heritage. You will visit the old harbour and Fatahillah square, the first town square in Jakarta.

 

3 OCT – JAKARTA – YOGYAKARTA – PRAMBANAN TEMPLE – MALIOBORO STREET (L, D)

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport and board your flight Yogayakarta. Upon arrival in Yogyakarta, you will head to one of the local restaurants to enjoy your lunch. In late afternoon, you’ll visit the beautiful Hindu temple of Prambanan and later you can explore the buzzing centre of Yogyakarta, Malioboro Road. This road changes after sunset into a beating heart, with wonderful local street food restaurants, interesting shops and exciting nightlife. This is a uniquely Yogyakartan experience. You will end your day by having dinner at a local restaurant.

 

4 OCT – BOROBUDUR – JAMU & TRADITIONAL MASSAGE – BATIK MAKER VILLAGE (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will learn about a Javanese traditional drink, also known as jamu. This healthy drink is believed to cure illnesses and give you energy for your daily activities. You will also learn how to do a traditional massage with natural herbs and oil. After a busy morning, you will enjoy an hour massage and relax before your next journey. You will also visit a village to learn how to make batik, one of Indonesian’s traditional cloths. After lunch, you will visit Borobudur, the biggest Buddhist temple in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site as well as Mendut temple, a ninth-century Buddhist temple. You will end your day by having dinner at your hotel.

 

5 OCT – SEMARANG – PANGKALAN BUN – RIVER CRUISE – KUMAI (B, L, D)

Today you will be transferred to Semarang to board your flight to Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan. From the airport, you head to Kumai and board your traditional boat known as klotok for a two-hour river cruise to Kumai, maybe spotting your first Orang-utan along the way. Lunch will be served on boat. You will end your day by having dinner at your eco lodge.

6 OCT – RIMBA – PONDOK TANGGUI – CAMP LEAKEY (B, L, D)

You start your morning by enjoying your breakfast before getting on board your klotok to Pondok Tanggui. At Pondok Tanggui you will observe Orang-utans in their natural habitat at the feeding time. From here, you will continue to Camp Leaky, a conservation area that has supported the research efforts of dozens of scientists and students on projects ranging from Orang-utan, Proboscis monkey, Gibbon and leaf-eating monkeys’ behaviour and ecology. A lunch box will be provided during your tour. After a long day, you will enjoy a well-deserved dinner at your eco lodge.

7 OCT – RIMBA – PONDOK TANGGUI – PESALAT – NATAI LENGKUAS (B, L, D)

An early morning start takes you to Pondok Tanggui for morning Orang-utan feeding then you will travel up the river to Pesalat Plantation and enjoy a light jungle trek. From here, you will board your boat and cruise through to Natai Lengkuas where you can observe the proboscis monkeys in their habitat. In the afternoon, you will be transferred back to your eco lodge to enjoy your lunch and dinner.

8 OCT – PANGKALAN BUN – DENPASAR – SANUR (B, L, D)

This morning you will be transferred to Pangkalan Bun to catch your flights to Denpasar, Bali. A light breakfast will be served on the boat from the lodge. Upon arrival in Denpasar, you will then head to Sanur for a relaxing two-night stay. You can enjoy your day walking down to the beach for your first Bali sunset or lazing around with a cocktail or two at leisure. You will end you day by having dinner at your hotel.

 

9 OCT – SOUTH BALI (B, L, D)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Ubud Market to experience the locals and test your bargain skills. After a shopping spree for friends and family at home, you will have lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, you will head to South Bali to visit GWK or Garuda Wisnu Kencana before head to Uluwatu Temple, with its magnificent view of the Indian Ocean and Balinese sunset as a backdrop. There are also the group of monkeys dwelling the small forest around the temple and play around the temple area. Enjoy the Kecak dance performance while the sun sets in Uluwatu area, and then drive to Jimbaran for a seafood dinner.

 

10 OCT – BALI – SOUTH AFRICA (B)

Free time – transfer airport.

 

11 OCT – ARRIVAL IN SOUTH AFRICA
