The health department says 2 355 new coronavirus cases have been reported in the country over the latest monitoring period.

The minister of health, Dr. Zweli Mkhize says another 80 people have died due to covid-19-related illnesses and the death toll now stands at 55 340. So far, more than 479 000 people have been vaccinated, in the Sisonke study, with the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine. In the second phase, more than 39 000 people have received their first of 2 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.
