The Department of Health is reportedly planning to introduce digital vaccine cards in South Africa on 5 October.

The editor-in-chief of the Bhekisisa Centre for Health journalism Mia Malan tweets the Department will announce next week if the cards will be available to both fully and partially vaccinated people.

Malan reports vaccinated individuals will be able to download the digital card and save it on their smartphones.

People will also be able to print it. A QR code will contain information on the details of a person’s vaccination and linked to their ID numbers.
