The bloodshed continues on the Cape Flats. In the latest incident last night, a 23-year-old man was shot and killed in Tafelsig.

Police Sergeant Wesley Twigg says 2 other men were wounded in the attack on Honolulu Street. He says officers from the Mitchell’s Plain police station had responded to a complaint of a shooting, on 11 September 2025, at about 20:30pm, when they discovered the deceased man, as well as two other wounded men.

Twigg says according to reports, the victims were sitting on an electricity box when the suspect approached them and opened fire. He then fled the scene.

 

Cape Flats violence: Cases of murder and attempted murder

 

Twigg says the 23-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The other victims were taken to hospital, to be treated. At this stage, the motive for the attack has not been established. Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened.
